pen and ink from Isle of Man

Welcome to inkmann art, my blog about all things pen & ink. I'm a fountain pen collector, and enjoy using them for my sketches. My name 'Inkmann' echoes the Isle of Man, where I live. This Island's landscape, coast and heritage are my main inspiration, and the abandoned homesteads, known as Tholtans here, are a subject I often return too. My pen collection is growing alongside the different inks I can't resist, as pen and ink is my favourite medium. But I am also a fan of digital art and watercolour, and sometimes combine all three mediums to gain the effect I like. If you would like to get in touch, please contact me, Andrew, via the email link, inkmann@manx.net thanks.

Groudle

 Groudle

This is a view of the lovely Groudle Glen with the bride in the background . The Manx electric tram travel over the bridge on its way to Laxey and Douglas
This is a photo I took a few years ago in Groudle  Glen. The bridge has been an inspiration for a few of my sketches and feel it is a great structure situated in a lovely area. The Electric Tram and roadway crosses above on way to Laxey.

Maughold Isle of Man

 Maughold

Maughold Isle of Man by Manx Artist inkmann@manx.net
This is a sketch I took yesterday while it was dry, because only a few moments earlier had experienced a typical Manx winter weather, rain wind and a light sprinkling of hailstones for a few minutes followed by beautiful bright sunshine with calmness. Maughold Church is in the background I believe it dates back to 12th century. Location of many Celtic crosses in the churchyar

 Some of my Favourite Pens

Favourite Fountain Pens

Favourite Fountain Pens

This is my trusty Parker Duofold with a 14ct gold nib a really nice pen.  I use it daily and as soon as I place nib on paper it just glides along the surface. I would guess it is around 1960's but if anyone can help me date that would be great thanks?

 Glen Dhoo

Another view of Glen Dhoo. Such a great place to visit and sketch.

Most of these images will shortly be for sale on a limited edition. If you would like to purchase any please let me know. Unfortunately at this present time I have limited orders to only Isle of Man addresses , but hopefully in the near future this will change.
The originals are not for sale but as I said a short run of printed copies on good quality paper and archival ink will be.  As you can see they are not up to the correct quality of reproduction on this blog but I can send you an actual size copy (watermark) before you decide if that helps.
Please don't hesitate to contact me to answer any of your queries. Thank you Andrew

View of St Marks

View of St Marks, Isle of Man, pen and ink by Manx artist inkmann@manx.net

Hello I've been out and about around the Island taking advantage of the only good day this week. It seems to have rained all week.

Picked up some good ideas for my sketches.
Here is one from last week of St Marks towards the centre of the Island. Great views of the countryside.
Any comments or feedback appreciated!
