pen and ink from Isle of Man

Welcome to inkmann art, my blog about all things pen & ink. I'm a fountain pen collector, and enjoy using them for my sketches. My name 'Inkmann' echoes the Isle of Man, where I live. This Island's landscape, coast and heritage are my main inspiration, and the abandoned homesteads, known as Tholtans here, are a subject I often return too. My pen collection is growing alongside the different inks I can't resist, as pen and ink is my favourite medium. But I am also a fan of digital art and watercolour, and sometimes combine all three mediums to gain the effect I like. If you would like to get in touch, please contact me, Andrew, via the email link, inkmann@manx.net thanks.

Manx Tholtan

Manx Tholtan

A Manx Tholtan, Isle of Man, by Manx artist inkmann@manx.net
A tholtan is an old building which has become derelict . It could be a croft or farm building  and there are many on the island. I don't know a lot about this tholtan apart from it being a building on a deserted farm . All tholtans have a sense of atmosphere and this is no exception.

If you would like to see some more tholtans  please let me know. Enter a comment below or contact inkmann@manx.net

Pen and ink from Isle of Man,

I  drew this pen and ink last year on the way to the Chasms, near Cregneash.

Came back during TT week to find it has gone . Not sure of the circumstances but glad I was able to capture it before it went.
It is a great spot with amazing views towards the Calf of Man.

Does anyone know what it was used for?

Bridge over the Lhen Trench

Bridge over the Lhen Trench
 Bridge over the Lhen Trench
The Lhen Trench in the northern part  of the Isle of Man. It passes under this bridge to the sea. This is such a fascinating spot. I've heard stories that the Vikings use to bring their boats up this narrow spot from the sea.

Another view of Peel Harbour. There's always something to see here - historic buildings, smallest car in the World, Kippers and Queenies to name a few.
